Bristol get revenge over French Pole

Bristol Academy 14 @ 13 French National Academy Pole

The Bristol Academy saved their best for last in 218. In another nail biter vs the French the Bristol Academy were scoreless against the French going into half time after the French missed a last second field goal as time expired in the second. The defense was holding up well against the French powerful running game but without a running game of their own the Bristol side was finding it tough to move the ball.

Abrams who started the season as the 4th string RB was now the starter and came out the second half really firing for the PRIDE. Behind some tremendous blocking from the OL and with some tough catches from both Imbimbo and Eldewieh the PRIDE got on the board with a sneak from Webb. The two point play was complete from Webb to Eldewieh and they jumped up 8-.

What looked like an onside kick was reversed by the referees but the defense quickly got the ball back and Webb hit Eldewieh on a slant for another score. A change at QB and Fields was picked off on the 2 point play.

The French themselves now started to get momentum after a costly fumble in their own half handed the ball over to France. The tough ground game in the hot heat was starting to wear down the smaller PRIDE team and the French scampered in for their first score of the afternoon.

It was late in the fourth quarter before the French threatened again this time a deep completion set up their second score. Opting to go for two points and the win Linebacker Djouma came up with the game winning stop for the PRIDE and to seal a 14-13 victory. A fitting way to end his two years with the team.

The PRIDE now look forward to the chance to repeat this victory in Bristol next year as the French travel to them in November.
