10 Mar Bristol upset Cologne
Bristol Academy 18 @ 7 Cologne Crocodiles
Thanks to a total team effort the Bristol Academy PRIDE pulled off an incredible upset in Arnhem Holland against one of the strongest teams in European German Football the Cologne Crocodiles and in doing so becoming the first British Junior Team to defeat a German Junior Team.
The game could not have started better with Webb now comfortable in his role as the starting QB hitting McCluskey for the go ahead score. In fact he targeted McCluskey in his final game for the PRIDE 11 times in a new team record including a second score. The passing of Webb was matched by the running of Setzekorn as he rumbled for more than 150 yards on the day. Also the fine running after the catch of both Barbosa and Eldeweih, the latter chipping in with a huge punt return that was called back too.
The most pleasing part of the day was how well the PRIDE Defense stood up to the huge front 6 of Cologne and continually kept their offense off the field with quick turnovers including sacks from Kimpiabi and interceptions from Faverus.
One of the greatest achievements in the 10 year history of the PRIDE and a game that wont be forgotten in a long time. Next up is the French National Academy in a rematch from last years defeat, this time in Ameins.
