Coach Herod’s thought on Swansea win

Coach Herod’s thought on Swansea win

Pride Head Coach, Ben Herod, gave his thoughts after his PRIDE finished the calendar year with an impressive win at home against Swansea University.

Touchdowns from Rob Rutherford, Uchenna Obasi, Lander Imbimbo and Stefan Collins put the shine on a terrific display against the highly regarded university side.

Coach Ben talked afterwards of a tough win against a good side.

“The Swansea game was a good win. Swansea University are newly promoted into the Premiership in BUCS and they went undefeated last year and have only lost maybe two games in the last three years. They are 2-2 so they have got a really strong programme”.

“They had lost their running back from last year who was a big impact guy for them but that probably made them harder to defend because we didn’t know who they were going to give the ball to on offence.”

Herod also made note that this was a game in which the PRIDE’s offence played particularly well in helping to ensure that the team continued their unbeaten run into the Christmas break.

“I think this was the one game where our offence probably stood out more than our defence”.

“We tackled as well as normal on defence and largely we stopped them. Their one touchdown came when our corner slipped and they happened to throw down that side at that point, but other than that I thought we handled their size and their squad numbers really well”.

“Defensively Swansea were very disruptive in the box and I don’t think anybody has scored on them in their first two games at BUCs level?  I think this was the game where our offence came out of its shell the most and we could have probably got a few more points in the game had it been against a lesser opponent.”
