Francombe awarded Most Improved Player

At the recent Game Awards held at Wise Campus, the award for Most Improved Player in the Golf Academy went to Rob Francombe.

This is a difficult award to win, as it is a level playing field between all the golfers no matter what standard they start from. It is judged both on a reduction of handicap but also on the net score on the Order of Merit.

Speaking after the award ceremony, Head of the Golf Academy, Peter Langford spoke of Rob Francombe’s achievement.

“Rob reduced his handicap from 11 to six and made a number of the Inter Collegiate Tournaments. He regularly shot under his handicap and we are looking forward to seeing how far his handicap drops next year.

“It is worth mentioning there was also an impressive performance in this category from our only lady golfer this year, Charlie Hiatt who came second in the Nett Order of Merit and fourth in the Gross order of Merit, which is a great achievement. It should give her a lot of confidence for the season ahead. “
