Leon wins Gold Coast Commonwealth 2m Bronze

Former SGS Athletics Academy student Leon Reid won Bronzeat the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games 2 metres for Northern Ireland in a time of 2.55. Leon was promoted to Bronze after England’s Zharnel Hughes was disqualified. This is the first Northern Ireland Commonwealth athletics medal in 28 years.

Leon Reid says,
I had a little cry,he revealed.I’m very excited. I’m going to find my Mum and celebrate tonight. I’m going jet-skiing – but after the medal ceremony (on Friday at 1.55am)”.

Richard Gwyn, (Head of Athletics at SGS Athletics Academy) says,
This is a truly great achievement by Leon. Congratulations from everyone at SGS College.
